Donor Impact: Your Fundraising Dollars at Work
Two in five of us will be diagnosed with cancer in our lifetime. That's nearly half of everyone we know. This is a daunting forecast which reinforces the importance of the funds raised every year at Challenge for Life.
All funds raised for and donated to the Challenge for Life remain in Manitoba. These funds support an internationally-recognized team of health professionals at CancerCare Manitoba who provide outstanding care for patients and their families.
Some of the CancerCare Manitoba initiatives and programs receiving funding from the Challenge for Life include:
- Research: Support for research is a top funding priority leading to better outcomes for people facing a cancer diagnosis. Donations enable the best and the brightest scientists to undertake leading-edge research here in our province.
- Cancer Prevention and Early Detection: Helps reduce cancer risk through screening and prevention initiatives.
- Clinical Trials: Provide tomorrow’s treatments today giving patients access to new treatments and allowing researchers to develop and test potentially life-saving therapies.
- Patient and Family Support Services: Programs provided free of charge to patients such as: The Patient and Family Resource Centre (a sanctuary with information and support sessions for patients and their families) and Quality of Life programs including Art Therapy, Yoga and Music to My Ears.
