Bonnie and Leanne have been friends for over 40 years.

We (Bonnie & Leanne) both followed in our mother’s footsteps and worked as Health Care Aides in the IERHA. We each worked with each other’s mothers and formed a special bond with them. Leanne’s mom Dorene had been retired for a number of years when she was diagnosed with esophageal cancer and fought it for many months and lost her battle in September 2022. Bonnie’s mom Darlene had not yet retired and fought a short battle with non-Hodgkin Lymphoma and passed away January 2023. We were both devastated and struggling to find a new normal without our mothers. We saw a fundraising walk for 80km for the month of April 2023 and felt this was something we had to do. The support was unbelievable as we raised 19,300 in a month. In April 2024 we teamed up with CancerCare Manitoba Foundation and added 20 more kms for a total of 100km. We have been overwhelmed with the amazing support from our friends, family, our community and surrounding communities and could not be more grateful! We have less than 40 kms, please come help us finish them off! #FUCANCER.
