CancerCare Manitoba Foundation is thrilled to announce our new partnership with Blake and Sam Wheeler and their family. And we invite you to "Come Wheel with the Wheelers"!

As team captain, I can personally tell you how much Cancercare has supported me over the past year. My mom, dad and I have spent many hours at Cancercare and at the Children's Hospital. The doctors and nurses are very special people and have helped us through a very challenging time.

My teammates, the St. Boniface Seals 10A2 White, are supporting this cause by joining me in this bike race. I cannot express how important it was to have these friends by my side over the past year as I went through Cancer treatment. They kept me positive and I knew that I wasn't alone throughout my journey.

Over the last five decades, there has been a dramatic improvement in treatments and outcomes for many pediatric and young adult cancers. Thanks to the passionate investment of donors, today four out of five of these young patients will be cured. 

However, the challenge remains for the remaining 20 percent of patients whose cancers have spread, returned, or proven resistant to treatment. For this 20 percent, outcomes remain dire. PROFYLE (PRecision Oncology For Young PeopLE) is a pan-Canadian initiative for children and young adults who are told they are out of treatment options. PROFYLE is a ground-breaking approach to treating these cancer cases.
