I am taking the Challenge – CancerCare Manitoba Foundation's 16th annual Challenge for Life – because I can!
Being a participant means I have committed to raise at least $3000 in the fight against cancer to help support cancer prevention, diagnosis, treatment, research and education at CancerCare Manitoba.
Personally I participate on behalf of my family in memory of our daughter and sister Shannon. Shannon was diagnosed with Non Hodgkin Lymphoma in 2016 at the same time she was graduating from her Bachelor of Nursing program. For almost 2 years she went through various treatments and procedures including a bone marrow transplant at CancerCare. Sadly Shannon passed away in September 2018.
Through all of her challenges Shannon continued to live life to the fullest. She had a zest for life and she had and continues to have a positive impact on everyone she came into contact with. She even participated in the Challenge For Life event in 2018- inspiring all of us! I know she will be with us again this year on our Schvesters team challenge!
