2019 Breast Cancer Pledge Ride

Each year nearly 3,000 women in our province receive the traumatic news they have cancer. Breast is the most common cancer diagnosis, affecting the lives of hundreds and hundreds of women we know and care deeply about. Your help is vital to providing healing, hope and new optimism for these individuals.

Join riders from all across Manitoba for the 18th annual Breast Cancer Pledge Ride! Starting and ending at Assiniboia Downs, riders travel through the Interlake to Winnipeg Beach where you can take a break and enjoy some live entertainment.

Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. Registration is free for those who raise $100 or more in pledges.

A breast cancer diagnosis is life-altering. Patients may receive chemotherapy, radiation therapy, undergo a lumpectomy or mastectomy and may have breast reconstruction surgery. All of this can leave lasting physical and emotional effects that can be difficult to adjust to. Your support of the 2019 Breast Cancer Pledge Ride will ease their burden in so many ways, including helping fund a new areola (nipple) tattooing service recently established by CancerCare Manitoba. Tattooing can be a transformative part of a patients emotional healing.

How it all started… In 2001 an enthusiastic team of women and men came together at a kitchen table to create the Breast Cancer Pledge Ride. The goal of the ride was to make a difference in our community today by bringing Manitoba motorcyclists together to raise funds.

"As we discussed the idea of raising money for breast cancer, we discovered that it had touched many of our lives. We heard many stories of grandmothers, mothers, sisters, wives and brothers. We realized breast cancer was closer than we thought." - Georgette Jhass, co-chair

It is amazing how one small idea could blossom into an event that enables us to make such an impact on the health of our province.

Ride for those you love!
