Keira's Winter Klassic

Keira's Winter Klassic

At 5 years of age, Keira Bond joined the game of ringette for the first time and never looked back. The speed, the competition, the strategy, the camaraderie – were all elements of the game that Keira absolutely loved. A tenacious competitor, Keira was a team player who enjoyed setting up plays as much as scoring a goal.

At the young age of 10, Keira was diagnosed with an aggressive brainstem tumour. Her trademark strength, resilience, and sense of humour helped support her throughout this difficult journey. Sadly, Keira was taken from us in June 2017, just six short months after her diagnosis. Keira’s battle with cancer did not stop her from putting other people first. Her care and compassion for others prompted her to start Keira’s Krusade, an organization created to help support others who have been diagnosed with cancer.

We have planned a special event called Keira’s Winter Klassic to celebrate Keira’s trademark strength, resilience, and compassion. This outdoor ringette tournament will take place on February 3rd, 2018 at Assiniboia West Community Club. We have planned this event with support from St. James Ringette Association, Cancer Care Manitoba Foundation and Assiniboia West Recreation Association. There are many special events planned for this day including; an eight-team outdoor ringette tournament, a pancake breakfast, indoor activities, and a social evening at Sturgeon Heights Community Club.

All proceeds from the tournament and social will go to CancerCare Manitoba Foundation via Keira’s Krusade to fight pediatric brain cancer.

By supporting us with a donation, you are helping to support CancerCare Manitoba in its work to change lives and change the course of cancer in our province.

Every donation - no matter how big or small - is critical as we work together to stay ahead of this disease.

Thank you for your support.
