Welcome to My Personal Page
This weekend I will be paddling for the third year in a row in the FMG Dragon Boat Festival.
I, along with my sister Cami, my cousin and many other young people will be a part of the team 'Katie’s Krew' and will be paddling to raise money for pediatric cancer care and the Children’s Hospital in Winnipeg. Two of the paddlers on 'Katie's Krew' are strong cancer survivors and are paddling to raise awareness and funds for others experiencing similar pain and trauma.
Many of us know someone who has fought cancer and know how difficult the fight is. I, personally have been touched by cancer through my mother's thyroid and ovarian cancers and have been by her side through surgeries and radiation. An aunt, uncle and grandmother have survived through gruelling treatments to become cancer survivors. Most recently, my family lost an important person to all of us, my grandfather. He died suddenly after a short battle with an aggressive esophegous cancer. Imagining a young child going through the same pain and suffering as the adults in my life have gone through is heart wrenching.
I am paddling to ensure that more cancer stories have a happy ending. Your donation to my Manitoba Dragon Boat fundraising page helps Manitoba kids and families through the CancerCare Manitoba and Children's Hospital Foundations.
I have been working with children for years. The thought of seeing a child I know suffering from cancer, sick and in pain is unbearable. This is why I am paddling and asking for your support.
Every dollar is so important in helping to create more tomorrows for Manitobans and their families living with cancer.
