I am taking the Challenge at CancerCare Manitoba's Challenge for Life – because I can! JOIN TEAM SCHVESTER and WORK IT
This year marks my 11 year anniversary of hearing those words “you have cancer”. I can still remember the doctor telling Dale and I. We were like deer in headlights ... we saw the doctor’s mouth moving but sat there frozen. Since my diagnosis, cancer has effected my oldest sister, who has beaten it, and my Dad..who died within 2 weeks of finding out. Thankfully he did not suffer. It has also taken my best friends Sandy and Sandra and there are a number of friends who are fighting this illness right now (shout out to Shannon and Andrew).
CancerCare Manitoba is the provincially mandated cancer agency for all of Manitoba, charged with the responsibility for cancer prevention, detection, treatment, research and education. The goal is to prevent every cancer we can; those we cannot prevent we strive to detect early and those we do not detect early, we treat with the best available options. .
The CancerCare Manitoba Foundation is the only organization exclusively fundraising for CancerCare Manitoba. While CancerCare Manitoba works in partnership with Manitoba Health, some programs and services may not be eligible for government funding. CancerCare Manitoba Foundation raises funds to bridge this gap and help deliver the best research, patient care, treatment and support for all Manitobans and their families living with cancer.
By participating in this eleventh-annual “Made-in-Manitoba” event, I have committed to help reduce my own risk of cancer by taking steps to improve my overall health. I am also committing to raise at least $4,000.00 to support CancerCare Manitoba - and all those who cannot walk.
Join me in the Challenge – either by registering to WORK IT or by supporting me with a donation. We'll do it together.... because we can!
