I am doing this walk (with my daughter as my designated partner) in honour of my good friend Jacki.
After months of not feeling good, Jacki was diagnosed with Pancreatic cancer in January 2017.
Jacki has been undergoing diagnostic tests and treatments for the last 5 months. She has been fighting this battle, with everything she has, since diagnosis and throughout the treatment process.
I am participating in this walk because I want to do what I can to help her. By myself, I can't find a cure for cancer and I can't make her fight easier. What I can do is raise money so that those people with an education in that field can find treatments and hopefully a cure for this disease that touches all of our lives. By sharing her story with others, I can raise awareness of how we can work together to find a cure!!!
Jacki is stronger than I can ever hope to be. She is fighting this with all she has got. Her family (whom we affectionately refer to as "The Krustys") has been so supportive of her and they want her to have many more years with them. Jacki, and her husband Todd have 2 amazing "kids". Hannah (the actress) is studying theatre in Toronto and Jared (the hockey player) will graduate from High school this June.
I want them to have many more years together as a family!
She is my hero. She has fought this disease with such determination and a great attitude. On chemo days Jacki bravely says "I'm going to kick cancer in the butt today" so please help us "Kick it for the Krustys!!"
Money pays for research and research will eventually find a cure!!!
Your donations to CancerCare are much appreciated by myself, the Krustys and all families whose lives have been affected by cancer.
