25 Years of History: The Guardian Angels

On October 25, 2016 the RBC Convention Centre Winnipeg was transformed into a thing of beauty for the silver anniversary of the Guardian Angel Benefit for Women’s Cancer.

Our heartfelt thanks to the attendees, sponsors, donors, models and committee members. YOU made the evening a tremendous success! In its 25 years, the Guardian Angel Benefit has raised over $6.5 million in support of women’s cancer. Truly remarkable.

Evening guests were captivated by the grace and eloquence of the event’s special guest speaker, The Honourable Janice Filmon, C.M., O.M., Lieutenant Governor of Manitoba. She is a woman who has travelled her own cancer journey, having been diagnosed with breast cancer at age 46. The fashion show was high-energy and inspirational. Cancer survivors and professional models walked the runway displaying many on-trend fashions. The evening also included the debut of the Guardian Angel video which highlighted twenty-five years of history and the impact the Guardian Angels have had on Manitoba women.

The Guardian Angels, a volunteer committee of CancerCare Manitoba Foundation, gave their time, resources and inspiration. In a tradition of generosity that began in 1992, the Guardian Angels’ mandate supports tangible advancements in prevention, early detection, treatment, research and patient care at CancerCare Manitoba, resulting in better outcomes for women diagnosed with cancer.
